Wholeness & Separation

Wholeness & Separation

Gee, i've had a hard time starting out today post. I have no idea what i'm trying to say first. Lets see, this sake set is named Wholeness & Separation after an album by Halou. The shot glasses names are Tubefed, Separation,
Morsecode, Honeythief, Wholeness.

This picture is sorta makes me think of someone and their kids and the photographer is trying to take a picture but some of the kids are having a hard time settling down.

The bottoms of this set have been craved so that it creates a step pattern at the base. This is probably my favorite color combination of reddish orange, grey, and black.

This cute little set can be found in my little Spot the Pot shop.

The Flying Ballerina

The Flying Ballerina

I'm a bit late posting today - i fell asleep taking pictures last night. Right beside my tea cup holding the camera. (Now wouldn't that have been a funny picture)

Todays picture is of a cute little vase (i warned you they would be back). However this one is not super small like the series of them earlier. -Ha i just noticed you can see me really well in the reflection of this vase. I have on a BRIGHT ORANGE shirt :D

This one is named The Flying Ballerina, named after an album i was lisenting to at the time. I'm not that impressed with that particular album by a band called Drums and Tuba. I have others by them so maybe i just wasn't in the mood - i'll give it another chance later and see if it changes my mind.

Of course you can see this in the Shop of Spot the Pot ;) Later you guys!

Deciding

Deciding

Today's post is a little light to help miu* find her way to feeling better ;)

With this particual vessel i had a hard time trying to decide (hince the name Deciding) what i wanted this to be. I started with a clear idea of possibly a spring box (Example of one of my spring boxes) but then i figured that i didn't leave enough clay at the bottom to do that - spring boxes are made upside-down.

So then i just had a large container - after it was leather hard, i did some slip trailing - and this is actually the piece here that i'm slip trailing. The clay used here is JB Stoneware and the colors are: Very Pale Pink, Honey Wheat, Rich Brown. It stands 4 3/4 tall and 4 1/2 wide. If you are interested it is also featured in my Spot the Pot Shop.

Levis, Guess, Frank and Christmas

Levis, Guess, Frank and Christmas

So these are in my fish tank. I made these first on the wheel then i added the little flat pieces later. They are named after my beloved fishes - Levis, Guess (these fish looked like they were wearing pants) Frank - he had pretty blue eyes - and Christmas because that fishy was green and a tiny splash of red with a silver streak (a very pretty fish).

Well i needed something in my fish tank and didn't like anything in the stores So i decided to make my own cool thing to put in there. Little bubbles come up out of these abstract towers as well.. I guess it looks like an underwater factory of some sort.

Splat

Splat
Well this is my dear Splat and she has been shipped out to a new home ;) I will miss her and thought i would bid her a fond farewell. <waving goodbye> take care and be a good little vase - hold those flowers tall (well as tall as you can my small wee little one)

Homeless Comb

Homeless Comb

So the title of this piece is Homeless Comb why you may ask? What it's not obvious? Well, i guess i'll have to tell you then. Well back in the day when my dearest friend Sara go up to the Art building with me on Sundays we would carpool together. So one day as i was getting into her super clean car (it was exceptaional clean this particual day - i felt really specail like we were then suppose to be going on a date or something ;) anyway i set my ceramics stuff down and look in the floor board and there is this absolutely pathetic dirty black bent toothed comb liying there. ~10

I pick it up and say "Have you been giving Homeless People rides again?" Holding up the weird/broken comb...

She laughs and says "i have no idea where that came from."
I respond with "well, looks like a new ceramcis tool to me ;)" and i place it in my little bucket of tools as we zoom on our way.

So on this tumbler i used the Homeless Comb after i washed it of course and put all these crazy looking swoosh marks on the sides. Then it was glazed in David's Blue which breaks really pretty in the indentions the comb left behind. It stands tall at 4 3/4" tall and 3 1/2" wide. The body is JB Stoneware fired to cone 6. You may find this one also in my Spot the Pot Shop.

Now and Later

Now and Later

These are two bowls hand thrown on the wheel and then altered. I love these two bowls. I think the picture looks almost like the shape was about to be a heart. They remind me of how when you love someone you like to get wrapped up in their arms. Their names are Now and Later. I have signed and named them both on the bottom. They are in my little Spot the Pot Shop now too.

I used White Stoneware fired to Cone 10 the colors are an outstanding Orange to Golden Brown, Grey with speckles, Deep Black as well as Shiny Black. Now measures to be about Top: 5 1/2" Wide, Bottom: 2 1/2" Wide, Tall: 3 1/2" While Later is a bit shorter and wider measuring Top: 6" Wide, Bottom: 2 1/2" Wide, Tall: 3 1/8" it also has the same colors (as well as a small "blush" of blue)

Blushing on a piece of pottery happens when the pieces are fired and the pieces are very close together - well sometimes some of the properties of one glaze are pulled toward a nearby pot creating a small area that is a different color. You can see the BLUSH in this photo - its on the left pot!

Opalescent

Opalescent

I dedicate this photo to John, for it was an idea from him that my first sake set was born. This set is named Opalescent which is the name of a CD by Jon Hopkins (lovely ambiance music if you dig that genre) The names of the shot glasses are Halcyon, Grace, Apparition, Afterlife, and Elegiac which are all names of songs off of that particular CD. For my sets i like to sometimes name them after groupings (not sure if i said that grammatically correct) ~gift

Also my dear friend Kim inspired me to post this image when she commented that she wanted some sake. The real colors of the sake set are majolica (which is white with speckles) with cornflower blue squiggles on them. Note however the Cornflower blue gives a lighter appearance though on top of the white majolica. This set has 5 little stackable matching cups. I choose to make 5 of them because i always see sets of 4 or 2 and thought wouldn't it be nice to have an extra one. So i make my sets to have 5 in case one gets broken from drinking tooo much sake.

Me and Kitty's Delight

Me and Kitty's Delight

So i decided i needed a break from the vases, don't worry tho i'm sure there will be more in the future. Muhahahaha

This is me and it was one heck of hot sunny day, i decided to have some water out of my mug named Kitty's Delight and well i'm all finished the water by the time this photo is taken (after about the 10th time i got up to reset the camera b/c i couldn't find my remote for the shutter)

I came inside and wasn't tooo crazy about the SUNNY COLOR - it was just sooooooo bright, however upon changing the photo through Calculations i noticed the brick texture was yummy. Then i decided i would leave the cup in color and call it a day.

Also i think its funny you can see the little camera's shadow down in the bottom left - so you know NO ONE else took this pic. Inless i have a ghost in my camer.

Peaches

Peaches

This mini vase is a darling burgendy color with a spot of pale pink on the side. The clay is JB Stoneware fired to cone 6 and this one measures up to be 2 1/4" Wide at the bottom 1" Wide at the top and 2 3/4" Tall. ~7

This little gal is holding a blue balloon flower. I really dig on how the top of this one came out and is probably one of my favorite vases i made.

This is listed also in a little store i started up called Spot The Pot - cheers and have a GREAT DAY!
